Our winter friends
I live high atop a hill on Staten Island. My ears actually pop as I ascend this hill to my house when I’m driving home from my offices in Manhattan.
For the past three years that I have lived here, I have watched a group of wonderful, small winter birds migrate to the N.Y.C area, and many of them set up housekeeping in my very (and I mean very) sloped, hillside backyard. During years past, these birds were always here in mass by Thanksgiving. This year however, they were very late, and have just now (in mid January) shown there beaks in my "garden" if you can call it that. I can only attribute this to our very strange climatic conditions. Obviously, these little guys and gals are confused. There will be more of this confusion to come.
Anyway, here are some photos of these chubby little friends. I took these with a Sony Cyber-Shot, DSC-H2, with 12X (Carl Zeiss) optical zoom lens.
